What Does “No Nasties” Really Mean?
Share
If you are paying for dog food, you deserve to know exactly what you are paying for.
Long ingredient lists and impressive packaging can make a product appear healthy - but the real story is always in the ingredients.
At FYPO, “no nasties” is more than a slogan. It means real, recognisable ingredients without added preservatives, artificial colours, artificial flavours, chemicals or hidden extras.
It also means something equally important:
No pasta. No rice. No flour. No cheap fillers.
Pasta, rice & flour are inexpensive, starchy ingredients that can be used to add bulk and weight to pet food.
They are not automatically harmful, and some dogs tolerate them well. However, at FYPO, we do not believe customers should be paying for products padded out with ingredients simply because they are cheap and filling.
We would rather use the available space in our products for ingredients specifically chosen to nourish your dog.
You should be paying for food - not unnecessary bulk.
Why the ingredients matter
A dog’s bowl should provide more than something to fill their stomach.
A thoughtfully prepared and appropriately balanced fresh diet made with quality ingredients may help support:
- Healthy digestion
- Healthy skin and coat
- Everyday energy and wellbeing
- Healthy weight management
- The identification and management of possible food sensitivities
Every dog is different, but knowing exactly what is in their food makes it easier to recognise ingredients that may not suit them.
Look beyond the front of the packet
Claims such as “premium,” “natural” and “wholesome” can sound reassuring - but they do not always tell you what is actually inside the product.
Turn the packet over and ask:
- Is the type of meat clearly named?
- Are the main ingredients easy to recognise?
- Are pasta, rice or other inexpensive starches being used to add bulk?
- Are preservatives, artificial colours or flavours included?
- Can the manufacturer clearly explain every ingredient?
- Is the food appropriately balanced for your dog?
A short, clear ingredient list gives you more confidence about what you are placing in your dog’s bowl.
Real food without the hidden extras
FYPO foods are made in-store using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
We choose real ingredients without adding:
- Preservatives
- Artificial colours
- Artificial flavours
- Chemicals
- Pasta
- Rice
- Flour or hidden fillers
Our focus is simple: more goodness in every bowl - not unnecessary bulk.
Natural feeding does not need to be difficult
Changing your dog’s diet does not need to happen overnight.
You can begin by adding a suitable amount of fresh food to their current meals or replacing highly processed treats with simple, natural alternatives.
Gradual changes can be gentler on your dog’s digestion and easier to manage within your household budget.
You do not need to be perfect. You simply need to make the best choices you can, one bowl at a time.
Inspired by The Forever Dog
In The Forever Dog, Dr Karen Shaw Becker and Rodney Habib explore how fresh, suitable whole foods may contribute to a dog’s long-term health and wellbeing.
One of the most valuable messages is that even small improvements can matter.
At FYPO, we put that philosophy into practice by helping families make natural feeding simple, affordable and realistic.
Know what you are feeding
Your dog eats from their bowl every day. What goes into it matters.
Our knowledgeable and friendly FYPO team is always happy to explain our ingredients, answer your questions and help you find an option suited to your dog and your budget.
There is no judgement and no pressure - just honest food and practical advice.
Real food. No cheap fillers. No hidden nasties.
